Father Punches Doctor?

It only stands to reason that in a dramatic environment like the delivery room, many tall tales will emerge about what has happened there over the years. Many of these stories have ranged from the improbable to the impossible! For instance, “father punches doctor” stories, for whatever reason, have been popular for many years. These stories are often entertaining, but are they true?

One of the popular tales where a dad decked a doctor has a few different variations. The story varies, as sometimes a baby girl is born, and sometimes it’s a baby boy instead. However, in each story, the doctor nearly drops the baby, catching the newborn just before it touches the floor. The mother passes out from the shock of it all, and the doctor himself is shaken, promptly handing the baby off to a nurse, who was standing nearby. The father then decks the doctor, before cuddling up to his new baby as if nothing happened. The stories never elaborate on what happens next, so we can only assume that all was forgiven afterwards.

It’s hard to verify whether this particular tall tale is rooted in reality, but it’s a great story nonetheless. Plus, with the high emotions running through any delivery room as a baby is born, it’s not too hard to believe, is it?
