Who Is Prince Harry’s Father?

The British royal family has been the subject of much scrutiny and many rumors over the years, in part because of the celebrity status all over the world. Princess Diana, in particular, captured the imaginations of many, and her untimely death only fueled the fires of speculation and celebrity that constantly surround the family. One of the biggest rumors is in regards to the question: who is Prince Harry’s father?

This speculation began when Princess Diana’s very well-known affair to Major James Hewitt came out to the public. Princess Diana admitted what many already suspected (or knew) in 1995, leading to speculation that Prince Harry was not Prince Charles’ son, but instead was the son of Hewitt.

However, Hewitt has refuted this rumor, as did Princess Diana. They cite fact that Prince Harry was already 20 months old when the affair began as proof that the rumor is incorrect. Meanwhile, Prince Harry has likely always known who his true father was. After all, even if the rumor had turned out to be true, what really makes someone a father? Is it the person whose union with your mother provided the biological means for you to be born, or is it the man who is around while you are being raised, and who plays a part in your upbringing? For those who define the term “father” as the latter, it’s always been known who his father truly was.
