Pictures From The Maryland Zoo In Baltimore!

Last Sunday, Daddy took Johnny to the Marland Zoo in Baltimore. On the drive up, Johnny slept in the car. Daddy fought the GPS unit the whole way since it locked up during the destination search.
After driving through Baltimore with just an old Map, we finally arrived just before opening of the park. The sun wasn’t quite hot yet, but it was definitely going to be a roaster of a day before it was all done. With this in mind, the first thing we did was visit the playground. Surprisingly enough, its also the first and only thing inside the gate before walking about 1/2 of a mile to the actual zoo itself.
In a nutshell, we found the whole place to be very kid friendly. There were no excessive crowds or huge danger factors like other places we’ve been. I would also have to say its much, much better than the National Zoo in Washington, D.C. Like I’ve said before, in the D.C. area its not worth the trip if you don’t pay for it.
Through the zoo we saw lots of animals native to MD, a puppet show which Johnny enjoyed, a petting zoo, monkey’s, bats, African animals, and one giant fish tank with 2 gators in it. We also experienced the standard rip off prices for substandard food: a true zoo experience!
One interesting thing we came across was a man taking pictures of bats through a dirty glass window. The bats had to fly within 3 inches of his lens since he was shooting with a fixed focus. His photos should be on National Geographic for the excellent results he was getting. He just stood there all morning waiting for bats to fly in front of him!
