Adobe Lightroom 2.0 Vs. Adobe… Whatever
Well, I’ve certainly covered the full gamut of new Adobe Lightroom 2.0 features. I’ve found others like the list. It’s always nice to recognized by others in our community of users.
Another aspect on the Lightroom software is how it compares in user needs to other Adobe applications. The Adobe suite is quite intense for any company. So, its good to know where each application stands. Now, I’m not about to throw down a massive spreadsheet bouncing check boxes on and off trying to cover every little detail; I’m not going to assume everyone wants to read another grid of information either.

So, lets jump on another bullet list of relevance.
- There is NO comparison of Lightroom to Photoshop. Bitmap editing is still dominated by the almighty Photoshop, but it is relatively limited to being a 1 image at a time handler. Furthermore, Photoshop won’t print your whole catalog of photographs on the fly.
- Client presentations are not something you want to do in Camera Raw. Adobe Bridge doesn’t do it well in itself. But as I have written before, you can run a professional slide show with Lightoom with music: outstanding!
- Here’s a simple analogy: Bridge is for everyone, Lightroom is for Photographers.
- Adobe Bridge is for looking through one group of photos. Lightroom is for your entire library of photos.
Now here’s an important note. I’m not the only one who will tell you this fact. I spend at least 70% of my editing time in Adobe Lightroom now. I don’t need to give extensive overhauls over every image like I would in Photoshop; I’m sure you are, or you will be, the same way. There’s nothing like rapid, efficient work flow!
