Your Photography Niche

It never ceases to amaze me how niches exist in every industry.  In photography we have people who specialize in everything from black and white landscapes to children’s portraits.  I often enjoy delving into viewing other people’s work when I look at how they focus on one subject, and pretty much one subject only.

I also find it disturbing how a lot of people only pay attention to their camera and about nothing else until a print is generated.  Sure, you can throw together a salad in a bowl, but until its laid out by a chef on proper plating it does not become a culinary masterpiece.  This is exactly how I feel about so many people just dumping their prints when they go to get them printed.  Overall, I can’t help but notice how many shooters out there don’t put any real effort into expanding their expertise and hence why I don’t see more people jumping on to Lightroom.

I believe its Florida State University that has the lead on expertise studies.  In an ariticle on their work, I was not quite surprised to find out that if you want to be an expert at something, you must constantly push yourself to be better! I believe a lot of photographers would pick up Lightroom if they held that perspective.  To me, its just a shame.
